On Tuesday, 3rd November, 2009, the team in Queen Elizabeth Hospital had managed to collect 40 bags of precious blood from staffs of the hospital, and some visitors of the hospital.
The event was held from 10.00am till 4.00pm at the Dewan Kinabalu located at the PGMC block of the new hospital building - the Specialist Building.
The event was a joint effort between Unit Tabung Darah (Blood Bank Unit), Kelab Kebajikan Dan Kebudayaan (Welfare & Culture Club), Unit Promosi Kesihatan (Health Promotion Unit), and lastly, and Lembaga Pelawat Hospital (Hospital Visitors Board).
With the leadership of the Pengarah (Director) of the hospital, the spirit of give and sharing was in the atmosphere throughout the day that the joy of contribution could be seen everywhere on the face of each donors.
There were lots of goodies sponsored by both the Club and the Visitors Board, while the Visitors Board also donated 3 banners for the event. A colour printer and a notebook knapsack bag highlighted the fun of the charity work that was actively participated by all the staffs.
Blood is forever in demand especially during and near the festival seasons.
The public is therefore appealed to donate generously. The sacrifice is worth it as it not only save lives but also enhances the health of the donor by doing the good deeds.
